Live at 135 is a concert series featuring a wintertime concert and one put on during New Haven's International Festival of Arts and Ideas every June. The vision of this event is to showcase unique and/or emerging musicians from the New Haven area. In the past we've featured the Daniel Levin Quartet playing improvisational cello, Laura Usiskin playing Bach's complete Suites for Solo Cello, the Stacy Phillips and Paul Howard duet on dobro, fiddle, and guitar, Loop 2.4.3 playing a wide variety of percussion instruments including two of their own invention, the Rose Echo and the eLog, local band Mon Monarch playing selections from their debut album Waterproof Matches, and Brass, a seriously fun brass quintet showcasing the music of Holst, the Beatles, jazz and TV favorites.
Our 2014 Wintertime Concert will feature international award-winning composer-pianist Kris Becker. Experience Becker's appealing nu-classical, multi-sty le fusion music in an electrifying performance for all ages. The creative and performance artistry of Kris Becker is infused with Christian themes: explorations of the sinful nature, our failed efforts, Christ's perfect work to reconcile us to God, and our triune God's all-availing mercy, grace, forgiveness, & salvation. Becker's music both indirectly and expressly addresses faith with thoughtfulness, heart, and respect. Learn more about Kris at www.krisbeckermusic.com and see his videos on YouTube.
Meet the artist at our wine and cheese reception in the fellowship hall following the performance.
